Codex BIM is a Revit add-in that supports the review of selected fire and life-safety requirements. This article summarises its scope so expectations are clear from the start.
What it does
- Reads storeys, occupancy and building height from the active model.
- Analyses site conditions: street faces, building area, grade.
- Answers project-specific questions with a built-in assistant that uses the model context.
- Traces egress paths and travel distances on the plan.
- Flags fire-separation continuity conditions for attention (in development).
- Produces a structured report with a pass / needs-attention result per supported check.
What it does not do
- It does not check every applicable requirement of a code.
- It does not guarantee compliance or approval.
- It does not modify your model.
- It does not replace professional judgment or the authority having jurisdiction.
